i turned 25 on tuesday, a day full of sunshine, just as i had hoped for. 

breakfast picnic by the lake, peaches, sun, lunch with the family, my parent's backyard, chocolate cake, my favorite wine, drinks with friends, the best presents (enough joan didion to last me through summer, kinfolk magazine volume four —  which i can't stop looking at for the sheer perfection of its layout & photography, nuxe rêve de miel lipbalm, marqués de cáceres rioja), ... it couldn't have been a better day.

d and i already have a photo blog, but departure lounge is going to be so much bigger than that. never thought i was particularly entrepreneurial, but the thought of having our own creative studio does sound pretty exciting to me...  we already have something in the works, too (more on that later).

by the way, do you now that feeling when you're in the middle of something good / when something you have been wanting to accomplish is finally starting to move and things are starting to fall into place, but you just can't believe it for some reason? well, that's me lately. with my thesis, with this project, ... doesn't mean i'm not enjoying it though! my mind's just dragging behind a little...

summer, where art thou

i guess summer has been hiding somewhere else for the past week or so, as we have been blessed with continuous downpours and temperatures below 20° (celsius, mind you). well, i am glued to the screen almost all day anyway because i'm finishing my diploma thesis (= the reason why it's been quiet on here) and would probably be pretty jealous of everybody else enjoying the sun while i'm stuck inside. there goes my last long summer vacation ever. ever... oh my, growing up sure has its downsides. sometimes i'd like to curl up in a corner somewhere and wait for that whole decision making business to pass by itself. i'm kidding. almost. 

two of my best friends who have moved to australia and china are due for a visit of the homeland soon —  i'm expecting summer to return so we can all have some proper summer fun!

oliver, our new siamese seal point kitten who has been keeping as busy (and awake) since sunday when we picked him up and drove 2.5 hours back home with him sleeping in my lap (occasionally biting my finger and trying to get away to explore the car). we hadn't been looking for anything other than a "regular" house cat, but i saw his picture and fell in love. like all kittens, he can go from cute to mischievous and back within seconds...
